Scott Kelby and Sam Abell: Master Your Equipment

Funny, inspiration can come from just about anywhere - even Twitter.  OK - we admit it.  We are one of those photographers that loves to play with the newest gear, but we also have to admit - it's because we are obsessed with any new piece of technology, camera related or not.

A recent Tweet by Scott Kelby got us thinking about another quote that we like from Sam Abell - and well, that's why we wrote this piece.  Photography is about timing, learning your subjects, and learning your equipment.  Get to know your insert here (landscape, people, wildlife, flora, fauna...) as well as your gear.

Bottom line: Master what you own, whether it is a $4,599 DSLR setup or a $119 point and shoot.  Continue learning new techniques, stretch your horizons, and better yourself instead of always worrying about whether you have the newest piece of equipment.  Learn the movements and nuances of your subject - whatever that may be.  Your gear will follow your lead.  But it all comes down to being in the right place, at the right time, and knowing what to do with the gear you have on you at the time.

We hope you agree after your check out the quotes below:
