Parent Test Commercial: Part 1-3

Friend: "Cool, you are in a commercial! What's your part?"

Me: "Ummm, well. I get to play the grey-haired parent-type taking a drug test in a school."

Friend: "Ha-ha......ah-ha...ha-ha....ahhh-ha......." Couldn't say a word because they fell over laughing...

Yep, gone is youth and it's time to accept we are just going to get cast into the grey-haired roles from now on! Ah, such is life.

American Legion Battle Creek Post 303 - Part I Video of July-September, 2015 Construction

American Legion Battle Creek Post 303 has, since its inception, been a hub of our small western South Dakota town. The Post is housed in what began as a wooden floored grocery store. In the mid-1960’s, the outer shell of the then vacant building was raised to replace the rotting floors with a concrete foundation, extending the useful life of the structure. But the old building is approaching the end of its life span and is in need of replacement.

Hence, the building of a new structure has begun. This facility is far more than just the American Legion Post home. The new building will be ADA compliant and include restrooms, meeting area, kitchen facilities and office space. This building will be used by the Senior Citizens, Legion Auxiliary, AA, Boy and Girl Scout organizations, plus other community entities and members as well as the American Legion.

Join us on this journey of creating a new home for American Legion Battle Creek Post 303 in Hermosa, SD.

ON1 Photo 10 Video - New Filter Stack in Effects

Just wanted to share one of the many cool new features in ON1 Photo 10. The new filter stack in ON1 Effects (part of ON1 Photo 10) has been given an upgrade!

As we mentioned previously in our article, The Next Generation of Perfect Photo Suite - ON1 Photo 10, there has been huge improvements made to the Effects module of ON1 Photo 10. Filters respond faster than ever before and presets are easier to find and apply. New preset categories have been added for popular photography genres, and include settings for color grading and haze reduction. The Perfect B&W module has been fully integrated into Effects, which lets you apply any filter—including the popular Dynamic Contrast effect—to your monochrome images. Lastly, you now have complete control over the organization of your presets and preset categories, making it easy to customize Effects to work the way you want.

Today, let's focus on the filter stack in ON1 Effects (part of ON1 Photo 10) which has undergone some great new changes. You can still work the same way you did in the previous version, but you can also learn some new ways to work. Dan Harlacher shows how the new options make it easier to find, add, and adjust filters in this great little 3 minute video clip.

If the video is not viewable in the browser you are using, please try to copy and paste: https://youtu.be/A-hCPIkPWok.

Don't forget to head over to ON1 today and get your ON1 Photo 10 copy reserved right away.

And as always, join us on Facebook, Pinterest, Google+ , Twitter, or sneak a peek at our photography on Dakota Visions Photography, LLC. Until next time, we'll see you behind the lens...

New! Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 Update Available Today

New! Perfect Photo Suite Version 9.5 Upgrade Now Available for Download - Technical Details and New Features List

For a list of the technical details and new feature list, see below:

Browse Enhancements

  • Persistent Thumbnail Cache: Stores thumbnails are previews on disk so that when you go back to folder a second time it loads much faster. You can control the size and location in the preferences.
  • Improved Detail View: Our goal was to reduce or eliminate seeing pixelated previews in Detail View. It now generates a larger preview up front so you will see less pixelated previews. It also reads ahead and behind so that when you move between images there is no pixelation. It also continues to process thumbnails and previews in the background.
  • Improved Grid View: The thumbnail grid has been rewritten. It should be faster changing folders. You can also scroll through large folders with no detail.
  • Albums: Create and manage lists of photos that can live anywhere, similar to a collection in Lightroom. Watch Videos

Crash Logger: Automatically logs crashes and hangs and reports them back to on1.

Scratch Disk: You can now configure where you scratch disk is located. This is handy if your boot volume is a small SSD. Adjust this in the preferences.

Mask Enhancements

  • Line Mask Tool: Create or edit masks with a point-to-point polygon tool. Click around the shape you want to mask, then click in the middle to mask that area.
  • Double-click on Blur and Chisel: You can now (or finally again) apply the Blur Mask and Chisel Mask tools to the entire mask by double-clicking on the tool icons.
  • Luminosity Mask: You create a luminosity mask or copy the luminosity to paste it as a mask onto other layers. The commands live in the Layer and or Mask menus.
  • Mask Contextual Menu: When you right click on a mask thumbnail in Layers or Effects there is now a contextual menu with the same options as the Mask menu.
  • Feather in or out with Blur Mask tool: There is now a mode option in the tool options bar for the Blur Mask tool. When it blurs it can either lighten or darken so that the blur goes inside or outside the current mask instead of just along the edge. Handy finishing touch for hair.
  • “O” key now toggles the mask preview on and off like Lightroom.

Portrait improvements

  • Faster Loading, like three seconds instead of 12!
  • Faster Control Point Adjustments. You can still get it to beep occasionally. We will continue to improve this for Suite 10.
  • Updated Control Point Overlay.

GPU Processing for Perfect Effects: We are in the process of converting everything in Perfect Effects to process in the GPU (video card). This make it much faster to adjust the sliders and use tools. For Suite 9.5 the following filters have been updated.

  • Blending Options
  • Antique
  • Color Enhancer
  • Cross Process
  • Lens Flare
  • Photo Filter
  • Split Tone
  • Vintage
  • Vignette

Misc Enhancements

  • Hold down command and option when you launch to delete preferences.
  • Colorize and Invert options added to the Borders and Textures panes in Effects. This gives you more control over what color you want for basic borders like Simple and Emulsion.
  • Crop settings now sticky across sessions and modules.
  • 100% Actual Size option is now available in the Print dialog.
  • Brushes should now behave more like Photoshop. They feather equally in and out instead of just in. The brush profile has also been modified to act more like Photoshop.
  • Color Temp control has been adjusted to be more yellow, less orange. It now tracks closer to Lightroom when you are working on a raw file
  • Suppress Edit What dialog (coming soon). When you use the Suite as a standalone you will not be prompted for your file handling options every time you open a file. These options are being moved to the preferences instead.

Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 - Coming Soon!

Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 Coming Soon

Not yet, but just around the corner (in around two weeks), Perfect Photo Suite 9.5, an updated version to Perfect Photo Suite 9 will be available for owners to download – FOR FREE. So, how will we notify Suite 9 owners once it’s posted? We will do the following:
  • Email registered users the day 9.5 is posted to our site
  • Auto update feature built into the app will prompt you to download the update once it’s posted
  • You can also get it here at any time after the post date
Included in this latest update are many significant performance and feature improvements.

Key Enhancements in Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 (check out the latest on1 labs posts for videos)

The Perfect Browse update add key improvements in four areas; grid view, detail view, caching, and albums. Grid view has been reworked to be much much faster and smoother when you scroll through thumbnails. Detail view, for looking at one photo at a time, has been improved so you will hardly ever see a pixelated version of your photo. This will be a much better experience when scrolling through full previews at a regular pace. The persistent cache of thumbnails and previews allows you to go back to a folder you have viewed before and make it lightning fast to view.

Albums are a new feature for Perfect Browse and it allows you to make a list, or collection of photos. The great part about on1 Albums is that photos added to the album can live anywhere (local hard disk or the cloud). Files don’t get duplicated when you add them to an Album, it’s more like a list of shortcuts.

Perfect Portrait has also undergone significant performance improvements. You will immediately notice the start up speed (from opening Portrait to finding faces). The adjustments of the eyes are mouth are also much faster.

There are many more features and performance enhancements found in version 9.5, including a new line mask tool; luminosity masking, and bug fixes.

About the Suite
